Questions?

How does it work?

The item is ‘billed to’ your account but ‘shipped to’ the food bank that you have chosen.

What happens after I place my order?

North Douglas SYSCO keeps track of the donated items from all the different businesses and delivers them as one big order to the selected food banks during the last week of the month.

What’s in it for me?

In addition to the satisfaction you’ll get from knowing that you are putting food right on the tables of needy people in your community, your local food bank will send you a tax receipt so you can claim your contribution as a tax deduction.

But my local food bank isn’t on the list.

It isn’t possible for North Douglas SYSCO trucks to deliver to every food bank on the island. So, if your local food bank isn’t on the list, choose the Food Bank closest to you. It will go to that food bank and they will make sure that your donation is re-distributed to the closest food bank to you that is a member of the Canadian Association of Food Banks, B.C. Chapter.

What’s my obligation?

None whatsoever. You can donate one item per year or several per week. There is no program to join, nothing to sign, and no minimum. The only condition is that you choose one of the items from the list that the food bank people have said they could really use. Click here for list.

Is this really going to help?

Unlike a monetary donation, where you’re not sure how much of your contribution makes it to those in need, your donation of actual food goes right on the table. Each part of your case means one less hungry person.
Many items have been selected as especially suited for children and families.

Why aren’t the prices listed?

The food market changes daily. Your NDS Food Service Consultant will give you the up to the minute price when you are ready to ‘Kick One In’. Many selections will be in the $20.00 to $40.00 range.

What if my business isn’t a North Douglas SYSCO customer?

This program is brand new. North Douglas SYSCO Food Services is the first company to put this plan into action. Once we see how popular the program is, they are willing to share it with other companies that want to make it easier for their generous customers to help the people in their communities that are most in need.

What’s the catch?

If you can find one, we’d like to hear from you. Send us an email at info@kickonein.org’. Questions and comments are appreciated.
